Light that candle; find a place where the wind whispers
only to you.
Give yourself a gift this season; don’t give away your
power. This doesn’t mean that you are
guarding it like a Mama Bear with her cubs, although sometimes it does, and
this is where things get tricky.
Seemingly the world wants a lot from us Mamas, we must protect the
babies, feed the babies, guard the babies when they are sleeping and teach
them, all the while keeping our big bear paws manicured and just the right
shade of caramel.
There are also houses that need cleaning, budgets that need
balancing, or sometimes from imploding, dinners to be made, healthy lunches to
create and jobs to get to. It is no
wonder that sometimes we forget about that flame that lives in all of us. Our light.
Our power. Our courage. Our pure
love.
This is a silent place where peace whispers sweet
something’s in our ears, “It is alright,” “You are good enough,” “You are always alright,” “Be proud,” “Be
kind,” “Be courageous,” “Be you.” Find
this place, find it often, because sometimes we lose our way and we forget
little by little that we are good enough, smart enough and Mama enough. And then something happens, we hear something
that someone might have said about us and it sways us, throws us completely off
balance, the flame goes out and we are in the dark, and we don’t even know
it.
This place is full of fear and un-knowing, it relies on the
whispers of others; the views from balconies we can never get to, the inside of
a mind that is not ours. It is not our
truth, it is not truth; and yet it is a self-created space of flailing,
misunderstanding and we think we can move through it with logic.
Light a candle for yourself, listen to the wick as it
sizzles, and ignites light. Take a deep
breath in and find the peace where your true self resides and acknowledge
her. She is always whole, always true
and very real. It is not logical, but neither is eating a tub of ice cream and
watching reality TV on repeat when there are seven loads of laundry to fold.
Say no to the cookie bake, unless it is something you look
forward to and love with passion. Say
yes to sleeping in, say no to gossip.
Say yes to you. They need you,
those children, those husbands, those boyfriends, wives and girlfriends, and
this world. We are all teachers in this
world whether we know it, or whether we like it; we are a role model to
someone.
The world needs you whole, and full of yourself, with no
apologies and no self-sabotage. Light
that candle; find a place where the wind whispers only to you. Breathe in your light, your power, and exhale
everything that no longer serves you, let the wind take it away, it can handle
it.
Don't wait for a Birthday Cake, light a candle for yourself today.
Every breath is a celebration, a birth and a death.
